Salary Scale – £33,500 – £34,500 – ​£35,250 – £36,000 per annum

We are recruiting for a Pension Wise manager to join our team on a permanent basis.

Pension Wise is a free and impartial service that offers people approaching retirement guidance on taking their pension options. Citizens Advice Plymouth is one of 50 Pension Wise delivery centres offering guidance appointments to help people make sense of their pension choices.

As Pension Wise manager, you’ll be responsible for making sure we deliver a quality specialist service across the Southwest area, ensuring the partnership runs well and that all appointments are available and filled.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Effective line management of the Guider Specialists and Administrators on the project, ensuring they receive a people-focused and compassionate experience at work. 
  • Oversee, and also provide, pension and retirement information and guidance to members of the public in line with the defined Pension Wise service.
  • Maintain detailed case records for continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation.
  • Complete the required training to comply with the quality assurance process.

Requirements:

You will be an experienced line manager who thrives on working with a diverse range of people and is open-minded, approachable, and non-judgmental. You will take an empathetic and compassionate approach to your team, while also being able to challenge effectively to provide the best possible service for our clients. You’ll have a good understanding of mental health, how this affects people, and how you can support people experiencing poor mental health effectively. You will have good critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and unpick issues. 

You will have the ability to manage and support others during times of crisis, be resilient and able to manage difficult and emotional conversations well. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

You will be able to deliver Pension Wise Guider appointments – providing face to face pension and retirement information and guidance to members of the public – in line with the defined Pension Wise service helping clients to understand the full implication of their pension choices.  

You will be able to competently use a range of Office 365 programmes and pull accurate reports. You will have good prioritisation and time management skills, to be able to work efficiently as part of a team to reach as many clients as as quickly as possible.   

Work base:

This role will have a hybrid contract, with a minimum of 8 days a month in the office at Cobourg House, 32 Mayflower Street, Plymouth. You will be expected to be able to attend the office at short notice if required.

Citizens Advice Plymouth lead a partnership across other southwest Citizens Advice offices. The delivery area covers Bournemouth, Taunton, Isle of Wight, and Devon and Cornwall (including Isles of Scilly).

Hours:

The role is 37 hours a week (9-5 Monday-Thursday, and 9-4.30 on Friday) on a permanent basis. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements with prospective applicants.
