How to prepare for your appointment
To make the most of your appointment and keep the call as short as possible, please aim to have the following information ready before we call you:
Income information

Benefit letters showing how much you receive and any deductions.

Access to your Universal Credit journal.

A recent bank statement.

Details of any other household income (partner, non-dependents, etc.).
Expense information
For example:
- Gas, water, and electricity bills.
- Food costs.
- Internet and mobile phone contracts.
- Hire purchase agreements.
- Medical costs.
- Clothing expenses.
- Gifts and other discretionary spending.
Debt information
- A list of who you owe money to.
- The amounts owed.
- How much you are currently repaying.
- Any recent letters from creditors or enforcement agents.
If you are unsure what debts you have, you can request a free credit report from Credit Karma or Clearscore.
However keep in mind that some debts, such as council tax arrears or benefit overpayments, may not appear on a credit report.
